The growth of the internet and the birth of
“The Information Age” have had remarkable impacts on our
society. While they have mostly been positive, as with most
technological advancements there are negative consequences
as well. Private information has simply become way too readily
available to anyone who takes the time to look it up. The
misuse of information has become dangerous, and the need for
homeowner to be able to protect themselves has become clear.
It is interesting to note that the solution to
this problem has been available for quite some time. "Land
Trusts," as they are called, have been used by the rich and
famous for decades to hide their assets and own their homes
anonymously. In fact, the history of land trusts dates all the way back to the 1800s,
when city politicians in Chicago wanted to hide their
interests in property from the general public.
The technique behind a
land trust is simple. Once it is formed, an owner can take their home out of their name and place it in the name
of their trust. When someone performs a search through the
current tax records, their name is nowhere to be
found. The owner remains anonymous!
While land trusts have
been around for quite some time, they were generally very
expensive. The cost to hire an Estate Planning Attorney to
custom-tailor a trust was prohibitive for the average
person, and therefore the ability to keep one's name out of the public
records was generally reserved for the wealthy.
As personal information
became more readily available in the last few years, the
need for a simpler and more affordable way to protect the
privacy of the average homeowner became clear. Thus The
Privacy Professionals, Ltd. was born. After performing a study
of homeowners, we learned that more than 87% of those surveyed said
that if they were given the opportunity, they would prefer
to own their home anonymously. However, there were
conditions:
Homeowners wanted
a product that was:
-
Easy to
form
-
Easy to
dissolve
-
Easy to
understand
With:
-
No tax
consequences
-
No
effect on any rights of home ownership
-
No
effect on any privileges of home ownership
And perhaps most importantly, it had to be
affordable.
So, we went to work. We assembled a team of
attorneys and let them know exactly what our clients
needed. The result, The Privacy Professionals’ Privacy Trust
©, was all we hoped it would be. The Trust was written in
such a way that it is simple to use, easy to maintain, and affordable. Additionally, it has no negative
consequences on any rights or benefits of
homeownership - you maintain complete and total control of
your home at all times!
We introduced
The Privacy Professionals’ Privacy Trust © to potential
clients, and the feedback we received was remarkable -
homeowners were astonished that they could have the
same product that the rich and famous had been using for
years, at a fraction of the cost!
